The Emperor outlawed marriages for young men. St. Valentine, a holy priest of Rome, defied Emperor Claudius by secretly performing marriages for young Christian lovers. When the emperor find this out, Valentine was arrested and put into prison. Claudius found some liking to this prisoner, but during Valentine's attempt to convert the emperor, Claudius got angered, and ordered that Valentine to be put to death.
